Graduate Teaching Assistant

My responsibilities include working closely with the course teaching team to prepare and lead lecture-style weekly laboratory practical sessions and experimental demonstrations to groups of up to 50 students per tutorial or lab session. Additionally, I mark ongoing course assessments including weekly lab reports, quizzes, final presentations, and formal final examinations. I also take this opportunity to mentor and guide first-year students in pursuit of undergraduate research opportunities and post-graduate career exploration.

I worked  with the course instructors to modify and improve the course curriculum including implementing engaging course assignments, seminars, and guest speaker sessions. I have also co-led weekly lectures alongside the course instructor, and supported student learning by hosting professional development workshops (e.g., CV workshop, applying to medical school, finding healthcare research opportunities). Lastly, I graded ongoing course assignments and provide timely and thorough feedback focused on improvement.

I collaborate with a team of learning strategies, faculty members, and program assistants to lead the facilitated study groups (FSG) program. (a structured supplemental instruction initiative program based on providing weekly peer-led study sessions). I am responsible for designing, organizing, and delivering asynchronous and synchronous training modules for facilitators (student leaders) to complete prior to beginning their role as peer-facilitator.


Program Assistant
Promoting Academic Skills for Success (PASS), Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, University of Toronto Mississauga (2020-2021)

I supported the implementation of a 7-week program that supports students on academic probation to develop healthy long-term study strategies. Specifically, I contributed to the curriculum development of asynchronous modules made available to PASS program students to solidify key academic skills such as active listening, note-taking, and time-management. I have also supported students in the PASS program by hosting 1:1 academic and professional development mentoring sessions.
